“In Chinese language, “music (yueh)” and “happiness (le)” is the same word, only with different pronunciations. Actually the two meanings of the word are integrated since it is believed that proper music makes people happy.

Music is a very important part in the Six Arts of ancient China - Propriety, Music, Archery, Horsemanship, Writing and Mathematics. It is only second to propriety, which sets up regulations of basic manners in life. The Book of Music, a book in ancient Chinese Six Classics, plays a crucial role in education and civilization since it focuses on spirit and “heart.“

A majority of diseases in modern society come from mental disorder, which is caused by pressure. How can we solve mental problems with correct and effective methods? It is very important to find correct approaches to use the power of music for such a purpose. Therefore, in this century, the key for outstanding medical or educational practitioners to improve medical treatment or education, is to understand the role of music and how to use it correctly.

If the focus is placed merely on mental / physical treatment or intellectual training instead of the holistic impact of music on body, mind and soul, it is impossible to achieve genuine medical or educational improvements.”
